jason kahn - porte d'italie - 20h00
Jason Kahn has been active in the
European music scene since moving from Los Angeles to Berlin in 1990.
He has given concerts with Günter Müller, Dieb13, Erik M,
Voice Crack, Sainkho Namtchylak, David Moss, Evan Parker, Christian
Marclay, Kevin Drumm, Steve Roden, John Hudak, Kim Cascone, Greg Kelley,
Bhob Rhainey...
Originally a percussionist, Kahn later began integrating live electronics
into his playing in the mid-90’s, at first with hardware sampling
units; later using the computer and live processing software. Kahn was
twice a guest of STEIM (Studio for Electro Instrumental Music) in Amsterdam,
working there on combining STEIM’s real-time processing program
LiSa with live drumming. Kahn also performs solo, using only laptop,
analogue synthesizer or combining these with live percussion.
Over several trips to Japan Kahn has performed with Otomo Yoshihide,
Sachiko M, Taku Sugimoto, Tetuzi Akiyama, Utah Kawasaki, Uchihashi Kazuhisa
and Koji Asano. In 1997 Kahn formed the group “Repeat” with
no-input mixing board player Toshimaru Nakamura. Repeat have toured Japan
and Europe several times as well as releasing four CD’s to critical
acclaim.
While living in Berlin, Kahn was from 1994-99 a member of American composer
Arnold Dreyblatt’s group “The Orchestra of Excited Strings,” performing
in installations, multi-media pieces and concerts.
Kahn founded the CD label “cut” in 1996, counting to date
nine releases. He has composed music for theater and dance and given
concerts throughout Europe, North America, Japan, Israel, Turkey, Russia
and Australia.
In the past several years Kahn has exhibited several sound installations.
He currently lives in Zürich, Switzerland.

tetuzi akiyama - porte d'italie
- 20h00
Guitar, electronics, viola, and self-made instrument player
Born in Tokyo, April 13, 1964.
Tetuzi Akiyama is a highly unique and experimental guitarist heavily
applying free improvisation and noise. Besides guitar, he also plays
electronics, viola, and self-made instruments.
Akiyama became an enthusiastic hard rock fan when he was eleven years
old, and started playing electric guitar at the age of thirteen. Later,
he also came to be very interested in free improvisation and classical
music. He formed the improvised music band Madhar in 1987. He also started
playing classical viola, and formed the Hikyo String Quintet in 1994.
The band, which played avant-garde improvised classical music, consisted
of a viola, two cello, and two violin players, and included Taku Sugimoto
on cello. Sugimoto soon left the band, which thus became a quartet. Later
that year, Akiyama and Sugimoto launched their guitar duo, Akiyama-Sugimoto.
They played gigs in New York in 1995, and in the Midwest (including Chicago
and Detroit) in '96. For about a year starting in early 1994, Akiyama
was also a member of Nijiumu, one of guitarist Keiji Haino's bands.

Vincent Epplay is a plastician
and creator of material sonic environments. He creates loci for listening
by staging sound and interrogating its mode of distribution and reception.
From sonic device installations to live performance, his research emphasizes
the relationships between sound and image, the context of production
and dissemination, as well as the behaviourial dynamics of listeners-spectators.
realizations: web sound objects, infinite cd for generative music, sound
installations and environments
collaborative works with Samon Takahashi (Mu & mixture), with Antoine
Schmitt (InfiniteCD and Display Pixel), with dancers (A usages uniques
/ Musique pour jukebox sans titre and Play with Clara). He's working
too with MTK independant cinema lab, and with Joana Preiss about voice
improvisation and generative music.

pizMO - porte d'italie ****
pictures ****
The project of the collective
pizMO is to develop factual & event
musical moments quasi-improvized and programmed starting from digital
audio, electronic and data-processing devices. The concert is for them
a kind of temporary "camping" (free laptop party or open audio streaming)
- acapamentos -, a temporary interface of their non-stop activities on
the networks and the medias which they explore (radio, edition, p2p,
streamings, etc). During these events, they join friendly real time video
collectives. PizMO, acronym of Intermittent Project of Objective Musical
Zone, revolves around a grid made up of other projects like Formanex,
Kalerne.net, collectivejukebox.org, radiolabo, picNIC, PacJap, Apo33,
Nomusic.org, Tiramizu, etc.
